Our Story

I was invited as a business owner to a very well known networking chapter meeting in the middle of 2006.  The concept of networking not only made sense to me, I knew successful networking is one method which help businesses succeed and grow.  I noticed that all of the business people present enjoyed the camaraderie yet there was an element missing which could have added tremendous value to the group.  That element was the active participation of Christian businesses and the benefits which result because of the recognition of the simple presence of God and the unquestionable benefits all Christians gain with that clear acceptance and invitation of bringing God into our entire lives-both business and personal. 

I thought, why not form active business networking groups nationally and maybe even throughout the world which profess an active Christian faith. 

I further thought, what would I name this group so that it is recognized as a business group, yet it not only accepts Christian biblical principles, but encourages active Christian living as found in the bible.  I therefore named the organization SON, an acronym for Success Oriented Networking for businesses, and an obvious recognition of our Savior.

Every organization, whether it be a for-profit or nonprofit business has the same very basic problem.  That problem is how to solicit investment dollars from clients or donors without going bankrupt in the process.  That is, how do I advertise and receive back a definite, sure, reasonable return on my advertising dollar?

 I have successfully headed both nonprofit and for-profit businesses and the same struggle continually exists.   However, when a person applies the principles of networking or referral or word of mouth advertising, the cost radically decreases and the sureness of success radically increases.

Now, not all of us know or presently understand the techniques of successful networking; however, the ideas are easily taught and learned.  If a business person is conducting his business faithfully, he has no time for studying and developing networking techniques.  He can certainly apply these techniques, but he or she is developing their business and has no more time for studying networking than he has time for analyzing insurance companies to protect himself from liability suits.  He relies upon a trusted insurance agent to do that study for him.  He buys the insurance and then he applies his time to his business.  The same is true with networking or word of mouth advertising or referral advertising.  The principles can be taught by experts.  Or expert principles can be taught by expert teachers.

The thought came to me “why not teach and lead in the wisest investment of time and money and let the business owners then enjoy the benefits and develop their business which they are becoming experts at.”

Therefore the birth of SON.  I invite all of you to join or initiate the formation of what will be an enjoyable and fulfilling venture in your business and personal life.  We are in our infant stages; however, we are growing and will continue to grow as you join and we lead.
